Giving families a window into learning
The school started simply, using Schoolbox to set homework so students and parents could clearly see what needed to be done. From there, it became a much more useful window into student progress.
Parents can see the work their child has submitted and the feedback their teacher has given. They can understand where their child is doing well, where some extra support might help and what they are currently working towards.
They can also join the conversation.
“I actually did have parents commenting on their students’ work, which I think for the student themselves was really lovely.”
A positive comment from home can reinforce the encouragement a student has already received from their teacher. When something needs more work, families have more context to support that learning at home.
It makes the learning journey easier to see while it is unfolding.
Capturing the moments that show understanding
For younger students in particular, evidence of learning doesn’t always arrive as a polished piece of written work.
Sometimes it is a drawing. A photograph of handwriting. A screenshot. A short video. A student explaining something they have just understood.
Learning Moments gives teachers and students different ways to capture those pieces of evidence.
“You can actually see the little light bulb ‘aha’ moments where that information starts to make sense.”
Students can photograph or upload their work quickly, while teachers can annotate directly over it, add written feedback or use the same kinds of stamps and stickers students recognise from the classroom.
For children who find written tasks more difficult, being able to demonstrate understanding in another way can make sharing their learning feel much more approachable.
Keeping a clearer picture of learning
Having those moments captured also gives teachers something useful to return to.
Work stored in Schoolbox can be revisited at school or at home, helping teachers see strengths, areas for development and progress over time. Students can return to feedback too, and families have a clearer view of what their child is learning along the way.
