Schoolbox hits exciting new milestone in Asia expansion strategy

We are thrilled to introduce Rachel Horsburgh as Schoolbox’s first internationally-based team member, who has commenced her role in Singapore, reinforcing our commitment to the next phase of our international growth strategy.

With deep roots in the EdTech space, Rachel has plenty of in-region experience, holding consulting roles for global edtech companies Education Perfect and Komodo Wellbeing. Her time with these companies saw her spend a lot of time with international and local schools of all shapes and sizes, using various curriculums and all with a unique set of objectives.

By spending extensive time in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, Rachel was able to understand international school needs and gaps in EdTech, and make recommendations to help leadership improve in all areas. Rachel has worked on international school groups rollouts and built strong relationships with association bodies including COBIS, FOBISIA, EARCOS and country-specific organisations such as JCIS, ISNZ and Ministries of Education.

Rachel’s appointment signifies the beginning of the next phase of Schoolbox’s international growth strategy, by bringing the Schoolbox platform to schools across the world. Based on our strong market share in the Australian and New Zealand independent education sector, Rachel will be prioritising product development to serve the unique needs of the IB program and other curriculums used across Asia.

Schoolbox already has strong ties in the Asian region, with Chief Commercial Officer Chris Barr having spent over a decade working in international schools in Hong Kong and developing a strong network. Rachel will add local, accessible support to schools in Asia, allowing her to bring deeper market knowledge to Schoolbox and to continue servicing the needs of international schools across Asia.

Existing customer schools will continue to be a priority in our expansion strategy. Always striving for excellence and priding ourselves on our customer service, Schoolbox has a 99% customer retention rate, which we are committed to bringing to and maintaining in all new international markets.

Rachel’s preliminary focus will be on our customer schools across Asia. She will be working closely with the product team to ensure we continue to innovate for the needs of these new markets, and making sure the customer voice in Asia is heard and a key driver in product development.

With Schoolbox becoming recent Global Sponsors of the IB for 2024, Rachel will be joining Chris Barr and our specialist IB team in Daegu, South Korea for the upcoming IB Global Conference to connect with the IB education sector.

Alongside visiting International Schools throughout the region during the school year, Rachel will attend the following conferences:
