Alaress has been on the exhibition trail again promoting Schoolbox at the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia (AGSA) Conference 2012 that was hosted by our client, Melbourne Girl’s Grammar School.
The AGSA Conference 2012 was designed to provoke thinking on current and future challenges that will be faced when educating girls. Over 180 delegates representing principals and senior management from Australasia’s girls only Independent, Government and Catholic Schools attended.
Melbourne Girl’s Grammar School was an exemplary host. The venue was stunning, and the care, service and food provided was of exceptional standard – check out the photos, especially the food pics. We thoroughly enjoyed catching up with our clients and presenting our learning management system to many prospective school Principals.
The key focus for the event was ‘Images of a girl’. The key note speaker, the Rt Honourable Dame Jenny Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand challenged attendees to ensure that when educating girls they feel empowered and enabled to be the best that they can.
Dame Shipley’s message strongly promoted diversity and encouraged educators to engender in girls the desire to succeed for themselves, their families, their work colleagues, their future partners and their nation and to be recognised for their vital contribution.
The Friday night cocktail party was excellent – complete with cocktails, a sting ensemble to entertain us and a beautiful setting inside the MGGS boarders dining hall. We caught up with MGGS Principal, Catherine Misson who voiced her support of Schoolbox and its ability to engage their whole of school community through one easy to use interface that has seamlessly integrated with their School Management system, Synergetic.
We noticed a strong focus with the delegates on enabling easy communication, collaboration and eLearning for teachers, parents and students through new technology in particular the use of mobile devices. This was encouraging given our pending release of Schoolbox mobile later this year.
It was great fun, the food was fantastic but we’re glad to be back at our desks working diligently for our clients. …we are definitely looking forward to exhibiting at the next event which will be the 18th ASBA Conference, to be held in Cairns from 23-26 September, 2013. It’s a way off yet but we’ll be sure to provide an update from beautiful tropical North Queensland when we get there.
